The aim of the Practitioner Circle is to create a learning environment, based on our experience and working models, for a small group of senior managers, leaders and consultants. We are aiming to engage with people who want to develop the professional skill and capacity necessary for sustainable whole-system dialogic transformation or intervention. Those involved in the Practitioner Circle will have the opportunity to work closely with Dialogue Associates, and to develop their own models for systemic change within their own or other organisations.
Outcomes
Involvement in the Practitioner Circle offers the real opportunity for participants to:
1. Have a clearer understanding about how to bring about sustainable change through a dialogic approach
2. Learn a range of levels of facilitation and how and when to apply them in particular situations
3. Be coached, and learn how to coach others, in four different areas of leadership
4. Develop working theories about people and how and why they advance and resist change
5. Understand how to work with the emotional and structural pressures experienced in large system change and thereby to avoid unintended collusion
6. Experience personal growth at a number of levels
7. Have an understanding of sub-cultural mapping and its relevance to sustainable change
8. Enjoy the company of others who are seriously committed to developing themselves as dialogic practitioners.
Who, where are when
The 2007 Practitioner Circle will include between 9 and 12 participants, of whom one third will be from Dialogue Associates. We will hold the sessions at The Firs in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, supported with telephone coaching calls with participants between each session plus entry and value calls before and after the cycle.
The sessions are generally scheduled for the last Monday of each month. Each session will start at 10 am and finish at 6.30 pm. We have included dinner on the Monday evening in the cost of the sessions to encourage those attending to continue the dialogue through an evening meal. Participants should commit themselves to be present for each of the 5 sessions when they register.
Content and Activities
The sessions will have a balanced focus in three areas leading, to the development of:
a) Model building, to develop the individual’s unique way of working
b) Intervention work, based on architecture, storyline and structural dynamics, to design sustainable change in an organisation or system, and
c) Facilitation and coaching skills in order to be effective in practice.
Also there will be sustained support through coaching calls between sessions.
Who should apply?
We anticipate individuals who want to become professional dialogic practitioners with whole system change skills will find this to be of great interest. As well as drawing on over 20 years work in this field, we will be introducing the leading developmental edge of our own current work within Dialogue Associates.
Participation in the Practitioner Circle will also appeal to those practitioners who would like to engage in future whole-system work with Dialogue Associates.
